What are Menstrual Cramps?

Ever since a girl hits a puberty she has a few difficult days every month of her life. These days are the days when she goes through her menstrual cycles. The moment there is a sign of period coming, we get conscious. The pains and menstrual cramps experienced during these days of her life are a hindrance to her routine life. In order to live a normal life even during these days of pain one needs to know how to handle these pains and take it in her stride instead of sitting down in a corner crying about them. 1. Make your own Heating Pad:

You could simply warm up some water in a plastic bottle and put it over the abdomen or just heat up a thick towel for a few minutes in the microwave. Try heating uncooked rice and put them in your old sock. You can carry this anywhere and use it after re-heating the rice.

2. Consuming Ginger for Menstrual Cramps:

Most girls experience excruciating pain during their menstrual cycles because of irregular periods. Due to untimely periods, the flow of blood increases thus aggravating the cramps experienced by such a female. In order to remedy this problem, one must have ginger tea. It is easy to make. Just boil grated ginger in some water and add honey and lemon to the boiled concoction. Consume this tea around the time when you expect your cycles to arrive thrice a day. This will help you achieve more regular cycles and also ease out menstrual cramps.

3. Having Basil Tea:

The acids in the basil leaves help to reduce stomach ache and also regulate digestion of food. Using them same method of adding basil leaves to boiling water, make basil tea. Do not boil the leaves in the hot water. Turn the stove off and cover the hot water tightly for 2-3 minutes. Gulp this down your system every time you have cramps. Adding basil leaves to your food will also help but for best results the tea is most recommended.

4. Yoga and Exercises to ease Menstrual Cramps:

A woman experiences menstrual cramps because the uterus contracts during these days to lose blood. So if it contracts too fast and with a lot of pressure, we experience cramps. In order to ease out the pelvic muscles it is important that we do a few stretching exercises to ease the process of contraction. Exercising and Stretching will help the body muscles to relax and feel better. Perform Yogasanas like the Butterfly pose for a good stretch to your pelvic muscles.

5. Cinnamon Tea:

Cinnamon helps to reduce blood clotting and also enables block free blood flow from your body. If the uterus does not have to exert too much pressure to pump out the blood from within itself, your cramps will ease on its own. Add half a teaspoon of cinnamon to hot water and then add 1 teaspoon of honey. Drink this before you are expected to have your periods and also on the first and second day. You will be amazed how you experience almost no pain using this remedy.

6. Apply Lavender and Coconut Oil:

Mix these two oils in equal proportion and rub it on your back and abdomen. They are essential oils with anti-inflammatory and pain relieving properties. If you add these oils to a diffuse and inhale them, it can induce sleep.

7. Consume Green Tea:

Green Tea contains natural antioxidant properties which help to ease abdominal pain. It also contains flavonoids and catechins. It is known to provide relief to bodily pains due to its anti-inflammatory properties also. 9. Avoiding certain Food Items:

10. Epsom Salt Spa:

Create your own spa at home. Add epsom salt which is also known as magnesium sulfate. This salt contains anti-inflammatory properties that prevent swelling of the muscles of your body. Add the salt of warm water and soak yourself in it. Or simply have a soothing bath. You will feel your body loosening out and also this could help you have a peaceful sleep.

11. Fenugreek Seed Water:

Take two spoon full of fenugreek seeds and soak them overnight in a cup of water. Drink this water next day in the morning on an empty stomach. Start drinking this water a couple of days before your periods are due. Fenugreek seeds contain compounds like lysine and tryptophan-rich proteins, which account for a majority of its therapeutic properties. 12. Lemon Juice to avoid Menstrual Cramps:

Add lemon juice to water. Add honey to this solution. Drink it everyday in the morning on an empty stomach during your menstrual cycles. Lemon juice contains Vitamin C which improves absorption capacity of our body. It is also good for our reproductive organs. Over here again, the anti-inflammatory properties of lemon juice are to be rewarded for soothing the pain you may feel during your monthly cycles. Why just during your period?
