10 Easily Available Home Remedies for Foot Pain Relief

The remedy for foot pain relief depends on the reasonca for which it has started. If it is due to a medical condition, the doctor shall treat the disease which shall heal the pain subsequently. For foot ache due to other physical problems, there is a list of remedies that can be used.

10 Home Remedies for foot pain relief:

1. Soaking in Hot and Cold Water:

If your foot has swelled due to excessive stress, pregnancy or any such reason, you need to soak your feet in hot water and cold water one by one. This helps the blood flow through your nerves. Warm water causes vasodilation . Vasodilation is when the blood vessels dilate and cause the blood pressure in the nerves to reduce. In contrast to that, cold water causes vasoconstriction. Vasoconstriction is a process in which the nerve vessels constrict, increasing the blood pressure. Alternating between hot and cold water acts as a therapy for the nerves and induces proper blood flow through them, thus reducing pain.

First soak your feet in warm water for about two minutes and then switch it to cold water for another two minutes. This will reduce muscle inflammation. repeat this cycle for about six to ten times. keep the temperature of the water depending on your tolerance.

2. Epsom Salt:

Epsom Salt contains magnesium and sulfate. Adding Epsom salt to warm water will dissociate these constituents in water and they will act on your feet to reduce swelling. They also reduce bruises and swelling. One thing to remember is that epsom salt must be added to very warm water to ensure the magnesium and sulfate act on your feet. Soak your feet in this water for about ten to twelve minute.

3. Ice Massage:

Use and Ice Pack or ice directly to massage your feet. This is an age old remedy for an aching foot and to reduce soreness, swelling and promote muscle health. You can also fill a bucket with water an empty a tray of ice in the water and soak your feet.

4. Massaging with different oils:

i. Using coconut oil: 

You can use coconut oil to rub on the affected area. For best effects, you can warm up the water slightly and then rub it in the affected region.

ii. Olive oil:

Repeat the same drill with olive oil. Olive oil contains antioxidants. The antioxidants relax the nerves and muscles.

iii. Sesame Oil:

Sesame Oil strengthens the bones and muscles. It possess anti-inflammatory properties which decreases inflammation and relieves pain. Sesame oil must be massaged daily on the affected foot for best results.

5. Soaking Feet in Hot Water with other constituents:

Soaking feet in hot water is itself a very powerful remedy for foot pain relief. However, if you think its not working for you, you can try and add a whole lot of other beneficial ingredients and soak your feet within.

i. Cayenne Pepper:

You just need half a tea spoon of cayenne pepper. Add it to a large bowl of warm water. Pour it in a bucket and put cayenne pepper. Soak your feet until the water is warm. Cayenne consists of capsaicin which is anti-inflammatory and anti analgesic in nature. These properties help in reducing pain in your feet.

ii. Mustard Seeds:

Take about half a cup of mustard seeds and and blend them into fine powder. Add fine powder to warm water and soak for 10 to 15 minutes. Do this daily. Ground mustard seeds provide a lot of nutrients and also relieve pain due to anti inflammatory properties. It also reduces swelling and soreness in nerves.

iii. Baking Soda:

Take half a cup of baking soda and add it to warm water. Ensure that it gets dissolved in water. Do this once daily to ensure it works for you. Baking Soda works because it has neutralizing effects on pain.

iv. Eucalyptus Oil:

This oil when added to warm water creates a tingling and warm sensation to the feet. The feet ache is relieved as a result of this oil. You can also directly rub the oil on the affected foot.

v. Peppermint Oil:

Around two big spoons of peppermint oil should be added to really warm water and you must soak your feet in this water for about 15 to 20 minutes. It consists of anti-inflammatory properties that help in easing the nerves and cut down on the intensity of pain

6. Drinking Ginger Tea:

Consuming ginger tea can relieve a wide range of bodily aches and pains caused due to inflammation. It is easy to make ginger tea. Just take some fresh ginger and crush it lightly. Add it to a cup of water and boil it. Add honey and drink the tea while it is still warm. Drink this tea three times in a week for assured results. It also contains an enzyme called zingibain that acts as an anti-inflammatory agent to soothe pain due to inflammation.

7. Exercise and Stretching:

Stretching your feet can also be effective. If the aching feet is due to the problem of inadequate blood flow in your feet, stretching them can be extremely relaxing for the nerves.

8. Keeping your feet at an elevated level:

Rest your feet on an elevated level to cure swelling and pain on your feet. This is recommended by most doctors. They may ask the person complaining of foot ache to keep a pillow under their foot while sleeping.

9. Using Healing Soles:

There are various kinds of foot wears that promise soft soles and relieved foot ache. Foot aches can be prevented by inserting healing soles in your regular shoes and foot wears to provide adequate heel support while walking. It reduces the effect of weight on your feet and distributes it evenly to suppress pain.

10. Consuming Fish Oil:

Fish oil consists of Omega-3 fatty acids. Consuming fish oil imparts a lot of healthy nutrients to your body and keeps it strong. These help in treating foot aches `d due to nutritional deficiency. Regular consumers of fish oil can dodge pains in the body. Incorporate fish oil supplements in your diet to treat your problems.

Foot pain can be caused due to physical factors or any o the medical conditions that arise as a result of diseases. The kind of pain experienced depends on the cause of pain. They physical factors that can cause foot ache are swelling due to pregnancy, wearing heels, wearing uncomfortable foot wears that may be of a smaller or a bigger size than the foot, excessive strain and stress on feet, age related pain and ache, Foot ache is also caused due to medical reasons like injuries, fungal infections, viral infections, diabetes, arthritis, lupus, etc.

Being over weight is also a cause of foot ache. It induces too much pressure on the feet for them to handle and as a result, it causes pain in the feet. One must hence ensure that they have a healthy weight. Using the right footwear is also important. Wear and choose the foot wear of your comfort and not the ones that please the vogue and trend.
