As your hair forms the core of your aesthetic looks, it should be taken care of in the best ways possible. Nature has provided you with many oils for hair-care. However, all these remedies have special purposes. So how about an all-in-one hair care? Does such a thing exist? Well, if you use flax seed oil for hair, then you know that it exists.

What does flaxseed do to hair?

Being one of the most versatile crops with numerous health benefits, flaxseed oil has a positive effect on hair as well. The primary constituent that it is known for, the Omega 3 fatty acids can help your hair in many ways. Hair Damages are mainly due to either age, bad brushing or bad weather.

Let’s discusses what flaxseed oil does to undo the core hair damages

1. Optimal nutrition to hair

Essential vitamins of flaxseed provide optimal nutrition to hair. When the cuticles are weak, they suffer damage. Flaxseed provides many nutrients and vitamins that can strengthen the cuticles. As a result, hair’s structure, its consistency and its colour are preserved. As the hair grows in strength, its roots become firmer. Firmer roots then lead to firmer hair.

2. Adds moisture to the scalp

Omega 3 fatty acids add moisture to the scalp. We can attribute most of the bad hair cases to a bad or a dry scalp. Dry scalp leads to drier roots for your hair. By introducing omega 3 fatty acids, Flaxseeds introduce moisture to the scalp. As a result, the hair follicles are properly cleaned, dandruff cases reduce and the hair can grow strong and shiny.

3. Prevents hair fall

Damaged follicles lead to hair fall. They, combined with ageing have a thinning impact on the hair. Lignan’s anti-inflammatory properties can prevent hair fall. These properties work well to undo hair ageing and heal hair follicle damage. It, in turn, prevents hair thinning.

Undoing the damage and protecting the hair is one thing, but what about growing the hair?

Impact On Hair Growth

Listed below are some good points of Flaxseed oil’s impact on hair growth.

1. Good supplement of Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and just like any anti-oxidant, it is good for the body, especially hair. It improves blood circulation, maintains capillaries and in the case of hair, it ensures moisture. Vitamin E moisturizes the scalp so that the hair is properly fed for optimum growth.

2. Regulator of pH levels and oil production

The pH levels and oil production around the scalp contribute to hair growth. Flaxseed regulates both. Its antioxidant properties calm the sebaceous glands, that ensure only adequate amount of oil production for hair growth.

3. Ample amount of nourishment for your hair

The omega 3 fatty acids that we have been at since the beginning of this article, play positive role in the hair growth. It ensures that the follicles remain strong, the cuticles remain steady and the elastic prevents hair breakage.

4. Enriches the hair

Flaxseeds are chalk full of omega 3 fatty acids. They add moisture and nourishment to hair, allowing it to grow at an accelerated rate.

5. Soothens the scalp

For many reasons that are not limited to irritation or psoriasis, the scalp becomes dry and as a result, the follicles of hair don’t have much room for growth. Therefore, it is imperative that the scalp is soothed down so that hair growth is unbridled and unencumbered. Flaxseed oil ensure that the scalp always has the right amount of moisture surrounding it.

Now you know how the hair is affected. However, you need to be specific about how you apply flaxseed oil on your hair.

How do I use flaxseed oil on my hair?

To maximize the effectiveness of flaxseed oil for your hair health, you need to follow the following instructions to the tee:

  1. First you need about two table spoon of flaxseed oil. For shorter hair, one tablespoon or one and a half table spoon would suffice.
  2. Drop the oil inside a bowel and heat it on low for a few seconds. More heat can actually cause immediate damage to your scalp.
  3. Use that warm oil to massage your scalp for 15 minutes. Afterwards massage the hair.
  4. After the hair and scalp are properly covered, use either a blowdryer or hot towel to heat the hair a bit
  5. Cover your hair with a towel for about 30 minutes.
  6. Use mild shampoo to wash off the oil afterwards.

You don’t need to adhere to above procedure on a regular basis, just 2 to 3 times a week. It is going to take about 45 minutes each time you do it. Therefore, make sure that you have enough time on your hands.

Types of Hair issues

When you think about it scientifically, your hair is a bunch of dead cells weaved together by an alive protein called keratin. However, being dead doesn’t save them from being damaged. Hair damages occur when the molecular structure of hair is altered. This alteration creates a domino effect and damages the entirety of hairs, resulting in the following three kinds of issues:

1. Dull and unruly

It is probably the most common hair issue. When your hair becomes unruly and dull, it becomes frizzy, and its tips are tangled. It, in turn, creates a situation where your hair becomes stuck when you are combing it.

2. Fragile Hair

Fragile or soft hair might give it an aesthetically and touch-pleasing silky texture, but its strength is close to none. One little prick and the hair loses its roots. Such hairs tend to split at the tips and break quite easily.

3. Hair Thinning

Hair thinning is a common culprit of male pattern baldness among men. When the hair is thin, its growth is patchy and slow. And even when the hair grows, the roots aren’t strong and hair-fall is more likely.

These three different types of hair damages have equally different causes.

Let us discuss that in the upcoming section.

Causes of hair loss

One molecular alteration in the hair cells and the domino effects destroy the whole scalpel forest. But why does it happen? Well, obviously because of alteration but there are different types of alterations to different parts of the hair that gave us not one, but three different types of hair damages:

1. Cause of dull and unruly hair

Damaged cuticle can take the credit for dull and unruly hair. It is the surface of the hair. You can say that it protects the strength and homogeneity of hair. When it is damaged, there is a loss in hair’s structure. Without structure, the hair becomes dull and unruly.

2. Cause of fragile hair

Damage to the cuticle and the cortex is the primary culprit of hair to grow fragile. While the lack of proper cuticle messes with the organized hair structure, it also causes unshielded hair to be damaged from water. So, when you are washing your hair, you also end up losing it.

3. Cause of hair thinning

Damaged hair follicles, the only part of the hair that is alive helps the hair strands to firmly attached to their roots, causes hair thinning. When the root is damaged, the hair that grows is also going to grow thin, patchy and weak.

So, it can be said that if you ensure healthy cuticles, cortex and follicles, you are ensuring healthy hair.

Conclusion

You can take care of your hair through any means, but if you want long lasting solutions, turn your gaze towards nature. You will find bounties like flaxseeds and avocados that shall reinforce the beauty of how your hair should be.
