List of Inspiring Bollywood Female Characters-
1. Shabbo (Veer Zara, 2004)
A movie that had names like Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukherjee and Preity Zinta attached to it and undoubtedly one of the finest films of Yash Chopra; Divya Dutta outshone in the movie with her character portrayal of Shabbo who is more of a guardian than just a domestic help.
Inspiring trait – Being loyal to loved ones.
Tamanna (Phir Milenge, 2004)
The performance by Shilpa Shetty as an HIV patient whose world comes crashing down when she is tested positive and loses her job is so laudable. By the end of the movie you’ll be sitting all dazed with a lump in your throat.
Inspiring trait – Fight for the right.
Vijaylakshmi (Queen, 2013)
A movie with a heart in its right place, Kangana might have held the whole movie on her shoulders, but Lisa Haydon’s character Vijaylakshmi was too charming and alluring enough to leave an impact.
Inspiring trait – Appreciate everything, Regret nothing.
Dhankor (Ramleela, 2013)
Sanjay Leela Bhansali brings the best out of every actor, always. Supriya Pathak who portrayed the role of Deepika Padukone’s mother not only took away all the Best Supporting Actress award that year but also won many hearts with her performance of a ruthless and a daring mother.
Inspiring trait – Vitriolic can be savage.
Shireen Aslam (Lipstick Under My Burkha, 2017)
Konkona Sen Sharma has done ample roles that highlight woman in just the right light but her portrayal of a secretly working woman who can go way beyond all levels to save her marriage, take care of her kids and be diligent at work like no one else is at par.
Inspiring trait – Inhale courage, exhale fear.
Pakhi RoyChoudhary (Lootera, 2013)
Sonakshi Sinha raised the bar high with her sheer beauty of a performance of a girl who lost her heart to a man who took everything away from her but deep down she still feels for him and wants to kill him at the same time.
Inspiring trait – Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.
Gita (Swades, 2004)
Gayatri Joshi’s first and last but a compelling performance of a teacher who loves her nation to no ends and is putting her best effort to make it better in her own way. She goes all out to make a man realise what he can do for his own country is remarkable and touching.
Inspiring trait – Patriotism comes from the heart.
Anarkali (Mughal-E-Azam, 1960)
The most Epic movie of the Indian Cinema had many memorable characters but Anarkali played by Madhubala is one that is here to stay. She is portrayed delicate and weak but her love for Salim makes sure to leave everyone spellbind by declaring her love for him openly.
Inspiring trait – Take a stand for the right, even if you are alone.
Naina (Dushman, 1998)
Hands down the most fearless character ever seen on the silver screen. Kajol was so splendid with her acting that it will melt your heart with an ease. Fighting for her sister’s brutal murder with agitation on her sleeves was simply extravagant.
Inspiring trait – Face the fear with your head held high.
Najma (Secret Superstar, 2017)
Meher Vij’s depiction of a mother who is so galvanising for her daughter’s career is simply heart warming. Her performance was so influencing that i hardly know anyone who didn’t go back and hugged their mother tight after watching the movie.
Inspiring trait – Aspire to Inspire.
Rhea (Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, 2006)
Undoubtedly my favourite character from a Karan Johar movie that had so much substance to it. Accolades to Preity Zinta who did it with such a simplicity. It showcased prepossessing shades of a lady who is struggling at various aspects of life but still standing.
Inspiring trait – Accept the love you think you deserve.
Madhvi (Page 3, 2005)
The movie is a punch on the face of the societal filth that there is and Konkana Sen Sharma (Mentioned again on this list) gives full justice to the character. It tells a lot about the living dead and what hell it is to be a journalist even if it involves glam.
Inspiring trait – Better to get hurt by a truth than comfort with a lie.
