Vertigo is an unusual feeling, where the person feels as if everything around him is spinning or rotating, even when he is standing still. Some people also confuse vertigo with dizziness but it is to be understood that these terms are not interchangeable. Rather dizziness is one of the symptoms of vertigo. A person can experience it at any point of time – while going to bed, while waking up, while tilting the head especially downwards and also while standing at a height.
According to experts, vertigo arises because of an imbalance between the central points of the inner ear and the brain. However, there are some experts who believe that vertigo itself is not a medical condition but a symptom that can lead to several other things.
The most common form of vertigo, Benign Paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), is usually caused when calcium crystals get loosened in your ear.
